L’Œil is an organization that mobilizes, informs and supports tenants in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood, and fights for tenants’ rights to housing and healthy living conditions.
The Vision
L’ŒIL is a mobilizing force that engages tenants and residents of CDN – regardless of their age, language, or cultural background – in the fight for the right to housing, and contributes to social transformation alongside other local, municipal, regional, and provincial organizations.
Our Values
Solidarity: Mobilize all neighborhood residents to strengthen our demands and increase our power to act in solidarity with the organizations we work with. Unite with our community on municipal, regional, and national issues to build connections and remain united in the face of housing-related injustices.
Inclusion: Welcome all people in their diversity by eliminating multiple barriers to access (financial, physical, linguistic, etc.) so that the organization is synch with the community.
Kindness: Greet people with empathy, without judgment, with curiosity, with commitment, and listen to their challenges. Maintaining an environment of mutual support and openness, to assist and hold each other up in the fight for housing rights.
Empowerment: Enable a better understanding of the power dynamics in place, to then encourage, using different approaches, individual and collective empowerment and autonomy to defend the social rights of our community.
Resilience: Adapt to the multiple challenges we (tenants, members, organization) face by showing flexibility and creativity.
Activism: The collective and individual intervention approach to collective defense of rights. Through demonstrations, actions and political representations affirm the right to dignity of tenants.
